Valletta Cruise Port operators of Valletta Waterfront and the Valletta cruise and ferry terminals are sponsoring the ALIVE 2015 Cycling Challenge for Cancer as a supporting sponsor.
This challenge for cancer will be taking 45 participants over 1,000km across 7 countries from Liechtenstein to England over a period of 7 days.
ALIVE Charity Foundation are organising this event in order to raise funds to support a research project in the field of Children's Cancer at the University of Malta. The research project is being facilitated by the University of Malta Research, Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT). The event expenses are covered by sponsors, so funds raised by the participants will go towards the research project. The target is to raise €70,000 for this cause to ensure continuous awareness, treatment and support in the area of cancer.
‘Valletta Cruise Port feels duty bound to sponsor such a worthy cause. Regrettably cancer is having a great impact on society, often striking close to home. This challenge will help fund related scientific research and awareness with long term impacts’, said Valletta Cruise Port’s CEO, Mr. Stephen Xuereb. ‘This sponsorship is part of Valletta Cruise Port’s ongoing commitment to the Maltese community,’ he added.
The ALIVE 2015 Cycling Challenge will happen between the 9th and 18th July 2015. The group will cycle an average of 160 km every day for 7 days and will cycle from Liechtenstein to Switzerland to Germany to Luxemburg to Belgium to France and finally to England.
